Beautiful art work and interesting story. Plus, it is completely free.. Quite a decent VN given that it is free!Story is pretty generic, but has a decent twist at the end (though not unexpected).[Played as part of my Visual Novel experience]. ill give you a good reccomndation even though id didnt work for me :)Good Luck. I hate to be the odd man out. But this is the first legitimately negative review for this title.)This free short story is one-part of a two-part plan and is about 30-40 minutes long from my experience (slow reader). Both parts 1 & 2 are intended to be presented in 2 formats each, Visual Novel (or VN) and Animation. Logically, this review is for the VN version of Runeous Part 1.Personally, it took me about an hour to see all paths. To be frank and with all due respect to the team who developed this particular title, I'm not really impressed. Although the story started in a decent manner, the bickering of the two narrators left an awful taste in my mouth. (Why does there need to be more than one narrator? If they don't cooperate, it just falls apart.) However, I may just be spoiled by other VN projects. I personally believe this one missed its mark.PROS:+ Great scenery backgrounds+ Skip works when you're not in-window+ Character art is...decentCONS:- Story feels generic- Narrators constantly bickering- Occassional grammatical errors- Some character portraits are not properly alligned- Lene's portrait when skipping the story had the wrong image (terrified Lene)- No BACK button- Music loops will get irritating- "Skip" is too slow- Character art may not be bad, but still bothers meI respect this small team for developing this title (along with their ambitions to complete the story), however, it's been a negative experience on my part. I can't say whether part 2 would be good or not, but aside from achievements and a free and easy 100%, I cannot in good faith recommend this title.3/10 A visual novel that just didn't hit its mark.. Quite a decent VN given that it is free!Story is pretty generic, but has a decent twist at the end (though not unexpected).[Played as part of my Visual Novel experience]. The story is interesting enough to pass some time. It was quite short though and I wished it had gone on for longer than it did. The backgrounds, although not very visually detailed, were pretty enough. The faces of the characters were a bit oddly proportioned under certain expressions and were not consistent enough across changes in facial expression; the artist needs a bit more practice with faces. Also I suggest following those "anime" eye rules; pinpoint-irises tend to look like bad guys whereas larger irises look warmer, amiable, and trustworthy. The music was good enough; felt a bit repetitive but then again I think that might be a problem with the genre in general; perhaps reduce the sense of repetitiveness with introduction of ambient sound and event sounds. More intervening event images would also help. And although it was only less than a handful of instances, probably 2 (but i cannot recall), tidy up the grammar. All in all, i guess I will have to give it a recommendation because its good enough for the price, which is free. I don't see why people should avoid a free story-with-accompanying-art experience.. easy 100%, nice guide on steam for it :). great story can\'t wait for part 2 sound overlaps sometimes but i really did enjoy it cant wait you guys did a great job smooth transition from scene to scene. I recommend this because the premise is alright and it serves as an okay introduction to a greater series. It has branching paths and dialogue choices with certain characters liking you or disliking you. However, I'd prefer it if said choices didn't actually let you know if they were the best or the worst choice, because as it stands, nothing stops you from going with the "best" choice all the time, like they don't even seem to have negative consequences either. It's more of a demo showing you what this medieval-ish VN has in store. It was short enough to not outstay its welcome, and I'm looking forward to part two and what not. Yeah, you're not getting a complete story here, but since it is free and functional, try it out.. Nice introduction which has drawn me into wanting to know more.
