The trading and colonizing aspects of this game are incredibly fun but literally everything you do in combat removes score from all the other factions reputation. One battle and you trash all the work you've done. This leads to a downward spiral of constantly being a target for war because you are so hated by everyone. You either lose everything you have to people with more resources than you can even try to get, or you pay a large sum of money to get them off your back for a week. I enjoyed every minute of it until I had my first war for the above reasons. After that first war, all of my positve rep was turned to -100 and the number #1 rated company with literal access to a shipyard was after me. It was incredibly frustrating to have this happen and I don't think I'll play another game of this for a while. And when I do, I will avoid conflict like the plague.. This is my first space / X game ever, and i am absolutely in love with it. Ive been on the discussion forums and the Game-Dev is extremely helpful and is very active in listening to the voices of the playerbase to make the Helium Rain game experience more wonderful.The game looks more than great (detailed), controls work great, gameplay is great ... like i said, I'm in love 😉 I will update my review after more hours into it. It's weakness was a totally devoid plot and story. This could become Independence War III with a solid expansion, but unfortunately is boring after about 30 minutes.. I got this game from a good friend i really wanted this game badly and i was not wrong, this game is amazing! The simulated aspect of economy and sector growth / or desolation is very amazing, no game is twice the same I only have 6 hours but i made 5 new games until i found out i learnt how to play properly, this time i built a dragon which took months to build and I plan to establish stations/bases soon but yeah i recommend this game to anyone who likes X games or mount n blade in a way ;). I was dubious when I saw the price, I mean how could anything good be this cheap?Then I played the game. It is fantastic. It plays smoothly, isn't the buggy horror show that the recent X-series games have been, and scratches that itch perfectly. The game is easy to get into, not too "grindy", and generally is a very pleasant (if slightly addictive) game that I feel is great value for money.It is nice to play a game for once where I felt that I got a great deal.. Hands down the best X3 variant I have encountered of many. The flight system and progression is solid. As soon as the annoyances become apparent there is a way to bypass and advance. Continual learning curve that is moderate and well paced. The economy is very real feeling, with natural ups and downs that you can exploit or engineer. Unlike most X3 variants (and oh god the original) the end game has no latency issues. End game continues to remain challenginging due to unifications of opposing corps and the distribution of resource types. All in all a wonderful game. I look forward to the modding that is being released soon, and am happy to see that development is ongoing.. I like it. I've put about 12 hours into it so far and it's very nice.It's different than a game like Elite Dangerous or Star Citizen where it's a mile wide and just an inch deep. This has some depth, has some interesting lore, the missions make sense, the economy actually reacts to what you do and there's no need to worry about other players greifing and trying to ruin it for you.Overall, the game is like a faster paced X3, which is very welcome. The devs are very responsive (I don't think they sleep, they might be robots) and that bodes well for the future. Space games are a growing niche and Helium Rain is a welcome addition.. TL;DR: I love this game. It's somewhere between X-Rebirth and X3.Sorry can't talk now, too busy playing it. Will come back later. Very much a game I would like to play again when I have more time and the attention span to explore it further. Though graphically very appealing and impressive gameplay-wise, it's support for HOTAS and (Dual/Joy)stick could, in my opinion, do with some refining and would benefit greatly if it auto-detected the specific device, axis and/or button on assignment rather than making me select them manually.
